she is saying: yoko ono's enduring feminist message Washington Post
(April 22nd 2007): "Yoko Ono matters as much today as ever. Read passages
from her 1971 manifesto "The Feminization of Society" and you could
think she was talking about 2007: "This society is driven by neurotic speed
and force accelerated by greed, and frustration of not being able to live up to
the image of men and woman we have created for ourselves; the image has nothing
to do with the reality of people." Yoko Ono: "I
never thought that I was waving flags. I always felt that I was just being me
and by being me in my work I was automatically being that one who is promoting
the body of women."

Kane has interviewed Yoko Ono many times, but never before for TV. Their one-on-one
sit-down will be seen Sunday on his CN8 show, Voice of Reason (9:30 p.m.). Ono
tells the newsman she's not surprised at the continued remembrance of John Lennon
"because his voice was a voice of truth and it has to keep on going."
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first meeting of Lennon and Paul McCartney,
as well as the 40th anniversary of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club
Band."

ono launches the john lennon foundation for child health Liverpool
Daily Post (March 29th 2007): "She is travelling from her home in New York
to a special event at Liverpools Alder Hey Childrens Hospital in May. The
launch of the John Lennon Foundation is the first major event for Imagine, the
charity Yoko Ono launched in October 2005. It was created to help Alder Hey continue
its pioneering work to provide family-focused care for around 200,000 young patients
every year. Yoko Ono said: What is happening with the whole Imagine appeal
is really very exciting and I hope the Imagine White Ball will be the first of
many fantastic events, all of which have one fundamental goal, to help children
everywhere. yoko

new brilliant
album yes, i'm a witch out now Pitchforkmedia (November 15th 2006):
"The idea behind Witch goes like this: Ono chose the artists with whom she
wanted to work, gave them access to her back catalog, asked them to chose a song
to rework, and then "provided [them] with the vocals and whatever other instrumental
elements attracted them from that cut. Almost all the artists chose just the vocals,"
according to a press release. The result: a remixes/duets/covers record consisting
of "entirely new musical tracks." Yoko Ono about
the album collaborations (UPI, February 6th 2007): "Some of the results,
Ono says, moved her to tears. "I was just emotionally overwhelmed by each
one of them," she says. "Like most artists, part of you doesn't want
people to just meddle around with your songs, but I just felt so thankful that
they even listened to my songs to be able to pick one that they liked and wanted
to record." Ono has no favorite among the 17 tracks, but she was particularly
surprised by Flaming Lips' choice and treatment of the obscure "Cambridge
1969." A club remix album of Ono
songs is due out in April, and she's also working on some original material." "Well, I'd
love to hear somebody do Why, but if they did, they'd probably need a stretcher
afterwards!"
