imagine peace with john lennon & yoko ono
Rikhardinkatu library, Helsinki, Finland: March 1st - April 30th 2005

My personal homage to the peace events and activism by John&Yoko: art/artist books by Yoko Ono, recordings by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, rare photographs, art objects and other related artist ephemera from a personal collection. There's a Wish Tree where exhibition visitors can hang their personal wishes. The exhibition has been extended until the end of April because of a great audience and media enthusiasm. Several newspapers and radio stations have reported about it already, so come and see it and make a wish!

ono named hon. chairman of portsmouth art competition
AP: "One of the world’s most famous people has lent her name to this year’s 100th anniversary celebration of the Peace of Portsmouth. Yoko Ono will serve as Honorary Co-chair of an art competition celebrating the historic agreement between Japan and Russia that was signed in Portsmouth in 1905. According to Mark Bodi, a member of the Art of Peace Program Committee and a partner at Griffin Bodi & Krause in Manchester, Ono embodies so many elements of the Peace Treaty celebration: she’s been a peace activist, is a renowned artist in her own right and she is also Japanese." (--) "Commenting on The Art of Peace exhibition and competition, Yoko Ono said in a statement released by the program committee, “It is my pleasure to serve with Susan Lynch as honorary co-chairs of The Art of Peace competition and exhibition. The Portsmouth Peace Treaty is a very important and enduring symbol of peace that is worthy of honoring and celebrating with this visual arts competition and exhibition.”

a letter from yoko / ageism
The Globe And Mail (April 2nd 2005): "...People over 50. There are so many of us on our planet. In fact, statistically, there are more of us than people under 50 now. We are the ones who toiled, held up the sky, and waited for you to appear on the scene to join us. We are the ones who have some knowledge acquired through our experience to give you, so you don't have to make the same mistakes we made. I think you still need us, darlings! Just know that we want to feel good, as well. Just like you do. There is no difference between us, except you will get where we are after us and not before. Give us the respect and freedom you expect to get when you are at our stage of life."
