Wenner released the tapes for celebrated rock journalist Mikal Gilmore's study on what tore the band apart, which appears in the upcoming issue of the publication. The 1970 tapes have also been released to TV news show Entertainment Tonight, which aired Lennon's comments on Wednesday. Lennon can be heard telling Wenner, "We sold out... and I felt sick."

yoko ono interviewed in the summer issue of artforum
"Well, when I first began as an artist, I would compose haikus, expressing things in lines of seven-five-seven syllables. And I really loved doing that. But then there came a point where I wanted to communicate something stronger than the haiku. Well, actually, you can't communicate "stronger" than the haiku can, but you can elaborate an idea so that people better understand it. So you can see, in my work, a moment where it was getting more desperate for me to communicate-in the sense that I was trying to communicate in a way that was more understandable. Some artists will try over time to communicate in more and more complex forms, you see. But in my case, I started very complex and then wanted to communicate in a simpler way, so that we would really reach each other."

white feather: the spirit of lennon in liverpool until december 2009
Julian Lennon about this special exhibition: "Growing up as John Lennon’s son has been a rocky path. He was a great talent, a remarkable man who stood for love and peace in the world, but to me he was the father I loved and longed for in his many absences. Mum was his first love, she was the one who held us together through it all. I started collecting these personal pieces because I felt they belonged back in our family. This collection represents something of great importance to me as it is part of our history.”
The Story of White Feather
“One thing Dad said to me should he pass away, if there was any way of letting me know he was going to be ok the message would come to me in the form of a white feather. Then something happened to me about ten years ago when I was on tour in Australia. I was presented with a white feather by an Aboriginal tribal elder, which definitely took my breath away. One thing for sure is that the white feather always represented peace to me.”
