Post (October 29th 2003) "Yoko Ono still knows how
to get a man to take his clothes off. Peter Jennings was interviewing Ono at last
week's ArtWalk event for the Coalition
for the Homeless when she somehow talked the news anchor into getting inside
a giant black bag with her in front of 500 people at Cooper Union's Great Hall.
A few moments later, both emerged with Jennings struggling to put his shirt back
on and Ono's own garb disheveled. While no one's quite sure what happened in the
bag, everyone was craning their necks to get a glimpse of Jennings bare-chested
- including his wife, Kayce Freed, seated in the front row with her mother." Michael
Tice: "She came out and first did a vocalization "to clear the
air." She had her assts. hand out pieces of the Sky
puzzles to the audience. They talked first about her backgound growing up
in Japan, her family, her father wanting her to be a pianist and measuring her
hands, etc. Then they got in the bag together. Peter Jennings was a good sport
and made some jokes about being in the bag. He seemed a little embarassed. They
then showed slides of various artworks and she commented on each one. He also
asked her about her working process... the remixes,
etc. She was very sweet & charming. After the slideshow, they took questions
from the audience. There were some good questions and she was very gracious to
all. There was no recording or photography allowed, but Cooper Union did videotape
it. Maybe they will have the tape for sale? I'm not sure. But it was a really
nice interview, very relaxed. She seemed very happy."
